I wanted to do a post for those who are new to wearing makeup or you like taking a minimalist approach. If I had a daughter, this is totally what I'd pack in a vinyl makeup bag. This certainly is not everything one could wear for makeup, but this would be an excellent starter kit. I have listed at least one of each drug store and prestige brand.
Milani eye primer or Urban Decay Primer Potion (I'm also partial to Lorac Behind the Scenes eye primer, but some people have reported their eyes being sensitive to that formula)
Physician's Formula Mineral Wear 16-Hour Airbrush Pressed Powder or Makeup Forever HD Powder
NYX Powder Blush in Dusty Rose or a Benefit box blush (my favorites are Rockateur and Dandelion)
NYX Slide-On Eyeliner pencil in Jet Black or Urban Decay 24/7 in Whiskey
Sonia Kashuk Eye On Neutral Mattes Palette or Lorac Pro Palette 2 or Urban Decay Naked (the first one)
Prestige My Biggest Lashes mascara or Makeup Forever Smoky Extravagant Mascara
